Nick got his certificate in auto upholstery at WYO-Tech in Laramie, Wyoming, in 1985. He has worked in the auto industry since then, gaining experience in bodywork and painting, mechanic work, and parts while continuing to hone his upholstery skills.

Thorin, the business’s namesake, spent his life harassing the cats, fussing that he didn’t get enough walks, and complaining that the house was never the right temperature. Thorin went to his well-deserved retirement in the winter of 2025, and the house is a lot quieter without his constant opinion sharing.

Kipper, Thorin’s little sister, has taken on the mantel of Shop Dog and spends her days happily following Nick around, offering opinions and advice, and getting as dirty as possible for a dog to be. She loves going on long drives and accompanies the family just about everywhere they go.
